The ASR112 carbine replica by APS is an innovative product equipped with a gearbox bearing the brand name "APS Hybrid Gearbox". The ASR112 is built on the basis of a construction typical of the family of popular American rifles and equipped with a shortened RAS Guardian RTS assembly and a free-float steel outer barrel (the so-called free-float barrel system). The top RIS rail allows for attaching optical sight devices, such as a scope or a red dot sight, but by default the replica comes with mechanical flip-up sights, precisely made of durable composite plastic, the so-called APS Rhino Iron Sights. The sights deserve special attention - they allow you to fire the replice both from a high and low a profile, thanks to the possibility of setting the sights in two positions.
The replica is equipped with a multi-position RS-3 stock and a highly ergonomic pistol grip. The RAS Guardian unit itself is also extremely functional and comfortable to use, and its forward design allows you to shoot using many different methods of support.
The RAS Guardian RTS (Rail Transformation System) itself is probably the most characteristic feature of the replica. The rail allows for full adaptation to the individual needs of the operator. RIS rail segments can be connected to the RTS in usual positions (top, bottom, right, left) as well as in intermediate settings (left-top, right-bottom etc.). The replica comes with a RIS rail with a QD mounting point and a QD swing swivel. Additionally, the replica is factory-equipped with a suppressor mounted on a 14mm left-hand thread.
The heart of the replica is the new "APS Hybrid" gearbox. Designed and made using an innovative and more user-friendly technique, according to comparative tests carried out by the manufacturer, it is 33% more efficient in terms of energy consumption than the standard system. It is equipped with a quick spring change system that allows the user to change the muzzle velocity of the projectile without having to open up the gearbox. Apart from that, the design is fully compatible with most of the TM v.2 standard tuning and replacement parts available on the market, which allows for easy tuning of the replica.
The reinforced gears are mounted on 7 mm metal bearings. The electrical system consists of silver-plated, low-resistance wiring that ensures stable operation, and the replica's motor is equipped with a metal core. The cylinder and the precision inner barrel with a diameter of 6.04 mm are made out of stainless steel.
The replica is equipped with the EBB system - an electric system that imitates the operation of the bolt. This increases the immersion when using the replica, making it similar to operating a real firearm and thus providing additional pleasure from firing it.
Reasonable for an assault replica, the muzzle velocity of ~ 380 FPS combined with the optimal length of the inner barrel and its reduced diameter make the replica perfect for assault operations and shooting at medium distances with high efficiency and focus.

Dzięki temu, strzelanie staje się bardziej zbliżone do ostrych odpowiedników, co zwiększa realizm podczas rozgrywek. Za każdym naciśnięciem za spust, replice towarzyszy tzw. "kopnięcie", czyli odrzut spowodowany zwrotnym ruchem zamka.
W modelach gazowych, system blowback działa dzięki przeznaczonej na ten cel większej części gazu, natomiast w replikach elektrycznych, zamek poruszany jest dzięki pracy silnika napędzającego cały mechanizm.
Jest to prędkość kulki, w momencie opuszczenia przez nią lufy repliki. Mierzona jest w FPS (stopy na sekundę).

Oznaczenia v2, v3, v6 nie oznaczają stopnia zaawansowania mechanizmu ,a jedynie kształt zastosowanego szkieletu, który dobierany jest przez producenta w zależności od możliwości korpusu repliki. Przykładowo, repliki z rodziny M4/M16, MP5, mają gearbox v2, natomiast rodzina AK czy G36 gearbox v3.
System Hop-Up służy do podkręcania kulki podczas wystrzału (wprowadzenie jej w obrót rotacyjny), dzięki któremu, przedłuża ona swój tor lotu. Działające prawa fizyki, powodują iż obrót kulki unosi ją do góry, natomiast siły grawitacyjne naturalnie ją przyciągają. Odpowiednie wyregulowanie Hop-Up, spowoduje wyrównanie tych dwóch zjawisk, co zaowocuje długim i prostym lotem na dłuższym dystansie oraz większeym skupieniem strzału (poprawienie celności).
